Electric (Corded) Power Tools – Warranty Terms and Conditions

Plain-language summary appears within sections for transparency. If any clause seems to conflict with the summary, the formal clause governs. This warranty applies to corded power tools only.

1. Warranty Period and Territorial Application

  • 1.1 The warranty period is 12 (twelve) months from the original date of purchase, as shown on a valid proof of purchase.
  • 1.2 Applies only to corded power tools purchased from Würth South Africa or its authorised resellers and used within the Republic of South Africa.
  • 1.3 Granted to the original purchaser; non-transferable unless required by law.
  • 1.4 Replacement does not restart the warranty period; the original 12-month term applies.
  • 1.5 Demonstration or promotional units may carry different terms if stated in writing.

Plain language: 12 months from purchase, valid in South Africa for the original buyer. Replacement does not restart the clock.

2. Definitions

  • “Manufacturing defect”: Fault caused by factory error, defective materials, or incorrect assembly—not misuse or environmental exposure.
  • “Normal, intended use”: Operation per the user manual and specifications, with correct accessories and voltage supply.
  • “Wear items”: Brushes, switches, chucks, cords, bearings—parts that degrade through normal use.
  • “Overload”: Operation beyond rated capacity or duty cycle causing thermal or mechanical stress.
  • “Liquid ingress”: Water or fluid entry causing corrosion or electrical failure.
  • “DOA”: Dead on arrival—fails on first use.

3. Scope of Warranty Coverage (Manufacturing Defects Only)

Covers factory-caused failures, including:

  • Motor failures: defective windings, armatures, or stators not linked to overload.
  • Gearbox faults: internal gear misalignment, premature bearing failure due to bad assembly.
  • Electronic defects: speed control units or soft-start module failures.
  • Housing defects: cracked bodies without impact marks, faulty moulding.
  • Power cord defects: internal short, incorrect wire assembly.

Subject to inspection for external causes such as overload and wear.

4. Conditions Precedent to Warranty Validity
