Pneumatic (Air) Power Tools – Warranty Terms and Conditions

Plain language summary is included within sections for transparency. If any clause seems to conflict with the summary, the formal clause governs. This warranty applies to Würth pneumatic power tools only.

1. Warranty Period and Territorial Application

  • 1.1 The warranty period is 12 (twelve) months from the original date of purchase, as indicated on a valid proof of purchase (invoice or receipt).
  • 1.2 This warranty applies only to pneumatic tools purchased from Würth South Africa or its authorised resellers and used within the Republic of South Africa.
  • 1.3 The warranty is granted to the original purchaser and is non transferable, unless required by applicable consumer law.
  • 1.4 If a tool is replaced under this warranty, the original 12 month period continues; it does not restart unless Würth South Africa confirms otherwise in writing.
  • 1.5 Demonstration units, samples, or pilot units may carry different terms if expressly stated in writing at the time of supply.

Plain language: 12 months from purchase, valid in South Africa for the original buyer. Replacement does not restart the clock.

2. Definitions

  • “Manufacturing defect”: A fault directly caused by factory workmanship, incorrect assembly, or defective materials—not by misuse, environmental exposure, poor air quality, lack of lubrication, or wear.
  • “Normal, intended use”: Operation per the user manual and specifications, within the rated air pressure (BAR/PSI) and air consumption (CFM/L/min), and with compliant air treatment and lubrication.
  • “FRL”: A Filter Regulator Lubricator unit that filters contaminants, regulates air pressure, and supplies metered oil mist to the tool.
  • “Running dry”: Operation without adequate oil lubrication (either from an inline lubricator or daily tool inlet oiling).
  • “Over pressure”: Air pressure exceeding the tool’s rated maximum, measured at the tool inlet while flowing.
  • “Wear items”: Components that naturally degrade in normal pneumatic operation (e.g., vanes, O rings, seals, springs, hammer anvils, gaskets, bearings, trigger valves).
  • “DOA”: Dead on arrival—failure on first use out of the box.

3. Scope of Warranty Coverage (Manufacturing Defects Only)

3.1 This pneumatic warranty covers only manufacturing defects. The following are typical valid manufacturing defects (non exhaustive):

  • Air motor defects:
    • Vanes incorrectly machined from factory.
    • Rotor imbalance due to material defect.
    • Early life failure without signs of running dry (no lubrication loss evidence).
  • Valve & trigger assembly defects:
    • Sticking trigger valve from poor moulding.
    • Seal leakage caused by incorrect factory installation (not wear).
  • Gear train / hammer mechanism defects:
    • Misaligned hammer cage.
    • Incorrect tolerances causing vibration from new.
    • Fractured internal components with no impact marks.
  • Housing & component defects:
    • Casting defects (porosity), cracks without impact trauma.
    • Threading cut incorrectly at factory.
  • Power related ancillaries (where applicable):
    • DOA air regulating components supplied with the tool (if included in the original kit).

3.2 Coverage applies only when all of the following are satisfied:

  • Tool was operated within correct air pressure (regulated at the tool).
  • Tool received lubrication daily (inline lubricator or daily inlet oiling per manual).
  • Air supply was clean and dry (effective filtration and water removal).
  • No signs of overload, rust, water, or dust contamination are present.

Plain language: Only true factory faults are covered. Dry running, wet/rusty air, over pressure, or contamination are not manufacturing defects.

4. Conditions Precedent to Warranty Validity

To maintain warranty validity, all of the following must be in place and demonstrable upon request (e.g., photos of the setup, maintenance logs, or site inspection notes):

  • 4.1 Compressor Requirements
    • Functioning water drain valve; drain daily (manual or automatic).
    • Stable pressure supply; never exceed the tool’s rated BAR/PSI.
    • Correct capacity (CFM/L per min) for the tool(s) in use (considering simultaneous use).
  • 4.2 Mandatory Air Treatment System (FRL Unit) — not optional
    • Filter (F): Removes condensate/particulates; maintained and drained/replaced as specified.
    • Regulator (R): Set to the tool’s rated pressure at the tool inlet under flow.
    • Lubricator (L): Correct pneumatic tool oil (not engine oil); adjust to achieve a light oil mist.
  • 4.3 Airline Requirements
    • Hoses clean inside and free of debris/scale.
    • No excessive hose length that starves airflow.
    • No reducers that restrict air volume.
    • Leak free couplings; seals and clamps intact.
    • Appropriate hose ID for the tool’s consumption (as per the tool manual).
  • 4.4 Tool level Use & Care
    • Daily lubrication: If no inline oiler, apply a few drops of pneumatic tool oil into the air inlet at the start of each shift and after extended use.
    • Correct accessories: Use discs, blades, burrs, sockets, etc., rated for the tool’s RPM and class; keep guards in place where applicable.
    • Cleanliness: Keep intake/exhaust ports clear; do not use tools in wet or corrosive environments.
    • No unauthorised opening/repair: Do not disassemble—breaking seals voids warranty.
    • Return completeness: Return the complete tool with proof of purchase and all accessories for assessment.
    • Serial integrity: Serial labels and identifiers must be intact and legible.

Plain language: FRL is mandatory; compressor must be drained; correct pressure, clean/dry air, and daily oiling are essential. Return the tool complete with proof.
